Vera Bjurström

Biography
Vera Bjurström was active in the Bohus stickning association’s charity work from when it was founded in 1939. Bjurström was Danish and had participated in an inventory that included folk embroidery at the Danish Museum of Art & Design in Copenhagen. This experience was beneficial in making proposals for patterns for Bohus stickning. Her decorative sketches mainly consisted of embroidered areas. They saved material and were thus suitable during the war due to the lack of materials. Some of the patterns were called “Kråkspark” (crow kick) and “Sneda rutan” (lopsided square); they stayed in production throughout Bohus stickning’s life. She was married to Göteborg painter Tor Bjurström.
