Karin Ivarsson
*1934
Biography
Karin Ivarsson studied textiles at Slöjdföreningen’s school in Göteborg. She was employed by Bohus stickning in 1960. She preferred to work with the material in her knitted sketches. The possibilities offered by knitting techniques interested her. “Stora spetskragen” (large lace collar) was one of her earliest patterns. She liked to work with different surfaces and types of wool to make contrasts. She composed an entirely new type of pattern for Bohus stickning, of which “Lagunerna” (the lagoons) was one. Emma Jacobsson, Bohus stickning’s founder, loved the three-dimensional effects and their exquisite white on white simplicity.
