Eje Öberg

Artist Eje Öberg was born in Helsinki in 1929. He was the grandchild of Thure Öberg (1872–1935) who had worked as a designer for Arabia in Finland. Öberg started work as a ceramicist at Gustavsberg porcelain factory in 1955. Two years later he took over the position of director for the artistic enamel gallery at Gustavsberg. He continued in the company as a full-time enamel painter until 1971, producing several public works in enamel. Öberg died in 2000 aged 71.
