Description
In the 1940s, the Windsor style chair became a popular everyday piece of furniture in Swedish homes. Several designers created modern variations of the classic design. One of the most popular models is "Lilla Åland" by Carl Malmsten. He was inspired during a visit to Finström's church where he found some old chairs. He made drawings of them and and after some adjustments and additions of his own, a series production could begin in 1942. Lilla Åland is comfortable and provides good sitting comfort with its bowled seat and reclining backrest. Carl Malmsten's chair is considered a Swedish design classic and is a good example of the light and movable furniture that was designed and became popular in the 1940s and 1950s.
